Dutch ‘Miami Vice’ Fan Attacked in Florida City

A 25-year-old Dutch tourist who wanted to visit the city that gave “Miami Vice” its name got his wish, but was then beaten and robbed after wandering into the wrong neighborhood.

“In Europe, we have that series,” Wim Janssen said Sunday of the attack last week. “But you only see the nice things, the finest hotels. I discovered there are a lot of bad things here too.”

Janssen said he wandered into a crime-ridden neighborhood about half a block from the Miami police station, where an attacker took $1,450 in traveler’s checks, an unspecified amount of cash, his passport, plane ticket and camera equipment. Janssen was treated for cuts and bruises.
