About 200 firefighters battled three separate brush fires Tuesday in steep sections of the Mission Gorge area that began burning between 1 and 1:30 p.m., officials said.

The fires did not threaten any structures, according to San Diego Fire Department spokesman Robert Sumler.

About 15 acres burned at Mission Gorge Road and Golfcrest Drive; 8 acres at Father Junipero Serra Trail and Bushy Hill Street, and 15 acres near the 7000 block of Father Junipero Serra Trail, about 1 mile south of Padre Dam, Sumler said. All fires were controlled by 4 p.m.

Firefighters from the California Department of Forestry and the Santee and San Diego fire departments along with an aerial tanker and two helicopters were used in fighting the fires, Sumler said.
