A transient suspected of molesting a 6-year-old Fallbrook girl was arrested Monday, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.

The child was treated for a cut on the head at Palomar Hospital and was later released to her family.

Mark Lee Moss, 27, described by police as an unemployed transient who lives in his car, was being held at the County Jail in Vista on suspicion of molestation, kidnaping and child endangerment.

Joan Wright, a child abuse investigator, said the child’s family knew Moss. Officials believe Moss enticed the 6-year-old with promises of taking her to a picnic. Moss drove the child to an unknown location in Fallbrook, Wright said, and later released the girl.
