Phyllis K. Pfeiffer Named Times General Manager in San Diego
Phyllis K. Pfeiffer, 38, has been named to the newly created post of general manager of the San Diego County edition of the Los Angeles Times, The Times announced on Monday.
Pfeiffer, publisher of the La Jolla Light newspaper since 1978, will join the Times Sept. 1, company officials said. Her duties will include working with editorial, advertising and circulation department heads to coordinate the planning, marketing and operational aspects of the San Diego County Edition.
A graduate of Cornell University, Pfeiffer joined the La Jolla Light newspaper as a retail advertising account executive in 1973. She was subsequently promoted to advertising manager and general manager before being named publisher.
Pfeiffer serves on the boards of numerous civic and charitable organizations in San Diego County and has also served on the board of directors of the California Newspaper Publishers’ Assn.
