9 Titans Ineligible; 4 Others Uncertain
Nine Cal State Fullerton football players have been declared academically ineligible for the 1987 season, the university announced Sunday.
Four freshmen--wide receiver Ervie Barnes, linebacker George Cross, wide receiver Anthony Pack and defensive tackle Keith Radovcich of Woodbridge High School--are ineligible under NCAA Proposition 48 rules. Two junior college transfers, running back Tim Harris and defensive end Ed McFarland, are also ineligible.
Three expected returnees are ineligible: cornerback Rolando Jarin and linebackers Jim O’Donnell and George Pritchard, all reserves.
The academic eligibility of four other players--potential defensive starters Carlos Adley at nose guard and A.J. Jenkins at end and offensive reserves Bill Brennan (end) and Marc Hauser (center)--remains uncertain and is expected to be determined today.
Two other reserves--John Lucas and Tim Wharton--have quit the team.
