TIJUANA —
Julio Cesar Chavez, undefeated in 54 fights, retained his World Boxing Council junior-lightweight crown Friday night with an impressive 12-round decision over Danilo Cabrera.
Chavez, of Mexico, won every round and left the Dominican challenger wobbly and bleeding to the delight of an estimated 20,000 at the Caliente Race Track. Cabrera, known as a knockout artist, fell to 28-5-1 with 21 KOs.
Chavez’s next fight will be against Edwin Rosario.
