Winifred Bryson, Actress, Dies at 94

Winifred Brison Manger, a former stage and screen actress, died Thursday in Los Angeles after a lengthy illness. She was 94.

Using the stage name of Winifred Bryson, she appeared in several movies, including “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” and performed as a leading lady on the New York stage with the David Belasco Theatrical Co. and later with Walter Morosco. She was at one time married to actor Warner Baxter, the original Cisco Kid, who died in 1951.

She gave up her career in the late 1920s to further the career of her husband, who won an Oscar for his portrayal as the Cisco Kid.

A native of Los Angeles, she was a charter member of the American Film Institute.

She leaves her husband, Ferdinand H. Manger. Inurnment at Forest Lawn in Glendale will be private. The family requests donations be made to Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles.
