Motorcyclist Killed, Rider Hurt in Crash

A motorcyclist was killed and his passenger slightly injured Thursday when he crashed into a center divider in Irvine, police said.

Irvine Police Lt. Al Muir said the cyclist, whose identity was withheld pending notification of relatives, was traveling north on Jamboree Road at noon when he tried to change lanes and rammed into the divider near Richter Avenue.

The Victim, who was thrown from the motorcycle, was airlifted to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana and died at 2:20 p.m. The passenger, who also was thrown from the motorcycle, was treated and released from the same hospital. His identity was not revealed.
