Joe’s Tammie, ridden by Craig Perrat, won the $314,400 Arlington-Washington Lassie Stakes at Arlington Park in Chicago and earned $186,840, one of the richest purses ever won by a New York-bred horse.
Joe’s Tammie, owned by David S. Milch of Santa Monica, came through along the rail to take the lead near the top of the stretch and went on to win by two lengths. Joe’s Tammie covered the seven furlongs in 1:25.
Tomorrow’s Child challenged strongly in mid-stretch but tired slightly and had to settle for second place, 1 1/2 lengths clear of Pearlie Gold.
