Arraignment for Murray Is Postponed

An arraignment for San Diego State basketball player Gerald Murray, who was arrested last week on suspicion of drug violations, was postponed Tuesday.

“We’re not ready yet,” said Linda Miller, a spokeswoman with the district attorney’s office. Miller said the postponement was at the request of the district attorney’s office and no new date has been set for the hearing in San Diego Municipal Court.

Ronald M. Frant of San Diego, the attorney representing Murray, said the district attorney’s office was “taking the appropriate time to look at the case. They’re just not reacting, they’re taking their time.”

Murray was arrested Sept. 1 in a raid on an off-campus apartment in East San Diego. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale. Also arrested were Natosha Plousha, 22, and a 17-year-old male. Police said they seized 3 1/2 ounces of rock cocaine in the raid.
