Venture Mixes Bacardi Rum and Coca-Cola

Share

Bacardi and Coca-Cola, a good combination in the cocktail lounge, are getting together again in Puerto Rico.

Bacardi President Manuel Luis del Valle announced Wednesday that the world’s largest rum maker has reached an agreement to bottle Coca-Cola products in Puerto Rico. The new bottling company will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Bacardi, based in San Juan, the company said.

It is not the first business combination for Coca-Cola and Bacardi. Coca-Cola markets a line of non-alcoholic mixes under the Bacardi name, and Bacardi has distributed Coke products in Puerto Rico. The rum-and-Coke cocktail is the most popular rum drink in the United States, and recently there were more pictures of Coca-Cola products than pictures of rum in Bacardi’s annual report.
