Brian Willson, Protester Injured by Train
- Share via
It is no wonder that the rest of America views California as the land of “fruits and nuts.”
Willson chose to protest against U.S. involvement in Nicaragua by sitting in the path of an approaching train. Willson and his fellow civil disobedients must have expected trouble for they videotaped the incident.
One has to respect Willson for being a man of principle and attempting to enlighten others, but his act was foolish.
Civil disobedience is a valuable and effective tool in efforts to raise consciousness and bring change. However, the person behind the tool must be ready to accept the consequences.
Bay area Democrats are making accusations and calling for investigations. What lunacy! The man has a belief, stands up/kneels down for it and is injured. He deserves nothing from taxpayers other than sympathy, favor or condemnation.
