Spilled Sewage Forces Closure of Surfing Park
A 15,000-gallon sewage spill closed the popular Tourmaline Surfing Park at Loring Street in Pacific Beach on Saturday.
County Department of Health officials said the spill occurred about 9:40 a.m. and was stopped 2 1/2 hours later. The beaches were posted for contamination, and the department spokesman said it was unknown how long the area would remain off-limits.
The spill was blamed on a blocked line.
