Two Malibu women were killed when their cars were struck on Pacific Coast Highway in the Malibu area by a runaway flatbed truck loaded with cinder blocks, the California Highway Patrol reported. Officers said the truck went out of control down Kanan Dume Road, crashing into the automobiles driven by Christine MacIntyre, 48, and Linda Parrish, 33. The load of cinder blocks spilled on top of the latter’s car. A power pole was severed and power lines were downed on the highway. It took Caltrans crews five hours to clear the wreckage. The truck driver, identified as Jose Martin, 22, of Santa Monica, was treated at Westlake Community Hospital and released. It was not determined why the truck went out of control, the CHP said.
