State Commission Agrees to Settle With Councilman

Share

The state Fair Political Practices Commission has voted to settle its case against Norwalk City Councilman Marcial (Rod) Rodriguez, who in 1986 was accused of improperly identifying 7,000 pieces of campaign literature.

Under the settlement announced by the commission last week, Rodriguez agreed to pay a fine of $1,000 and acknowledged that he did not label the mailers as being sent by his campaign--in violation of the state Political Reform Act.

The mailer sent by Rodriguez stated on the outside: “Important! Voter Information Enclosed.” According to the commission, the sender was identified only as “Office of the Mayor, Norwalk, Ca., 90650.”
