An Inglewood woman was shot to death on the doorstep of her home by a man who apparently went there looking for someone else. Inglewood Police Lt. George Joseph said a man later identified as Rodney Woods went to the home of Rita Hernandez, 46, in the 500 block of East Hyde Park Place, and asked to speak to a person who does not live there. She told him he had the wrong address, Joseph said, and he went away but returned a few minutes later and again asked for the unknown person. When Hernandez told him again that he had the wrong house, Joseph said, Woods pulled a gun and shot her. Mrs. Hernandez’s husband, who was in a back room of the home, rushed to the door with his gun and shot Woods. Rita Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene. Woods was in critical condition at Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital.
