NFL’s Players Want Their Cake and Eat It, Too
Congratulations to the NFL players for having the courage of their convictions. Compared to others in the sports and entertainment industries, they have legitimate grievances over free agency, pensions, etc.
However, their union will be broken. Players have all the issues in their corner, but none of the leverage. The very wealthy team owners can hold out; the players cannot. Without free agency, the players are in a kind of slavery. The main issue is: freedom of choice.
The players will gravitate to the side of money and power, leaving principle behind, and end the union.
