Lynwood : Fire Chief Interviews Set
Fifteen candidates will be interviewed during a two-day period, Oct. 19 and 20, as Lynwood searches for a replacement for retired Fire Chief Ronald W. Lathrope. The list, which includes candidates from throughout the nation, will be narrowed to three finalists. None of the candidates’ names were made public.
The interview board will be made up of three members who will not be employees of the city, said Donald J. Fraser, assistant city manager. The City Council and city manager will make the final selection to replace Lathrope, who retired in June after 27 years on the 33-person Lynwood Fire Department.
The city advertised in national publications for a replacement, Fraser said. Assistant Chief Fred Ripley was appointed acting chief until a permanent one is hired. The monthly salary range is $4,605 to $4,934.
