La Palma : 2-Alarm Fire Damages Commercial Warehouse

Share

A commercial warehouse in La Palma was damaged by fire Wednesday night, county fire dispatcher Mike Knutson reported.

About 40 firefighters from the Orange and Los Angeles counties and the city of Garden Grove responded to the two-alarm fire at the Stuart Walker Co. warehouse on Marlin Circle in La Palma at 7:21 p.m. Wednesday.

Knutson said firefighters got the fire under control in 32 minutes but expected to be working late into the night to stamp out the last embers.

No one was injured in the blaze. Damage was estimated at $15,000 and officials said the fire was caused by boxes piled too high that were ignited by overhead lights.

Firefighting efforts were hampered by the heigth of the boxes and the narrow aisles, Knutson said. The company, owned by John Lauritzen of Whittier, manufactures plastic bottles.
