Holmes Will Come Out of Retirement to Take On Tyson

Larry Holmes, former heavyweight boxing champion, will come out of retirement to fight Mike Tyson, the current undefeated champion, Jan. 23, if Tyson wins his next fight, promoter Don King said Thursday.

Tyson will fight Tyrell Biggs next Friday at Atlantic City, N.J. Holmes, who will be 38 next month, retired after losing a 15-round split decision in a bid to regain the International Boxing Federation title from Michael Spinks at Las Vegas April 19, 1986.

Tyson has a 31-0 record with 28 knockouts.

No site has been determined for a Holmes-Tyson fight, which would be televised by HBO.

Jimmy Jacobs and Bill Clayton, who co-manage Tyson, confirmed that Holmes is next in line for Tyson.
