A man who was killed in an auto accident was identified Tuesday as Jeffrey L. Hatcher, 22, of San Diego, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Hatcher suffered massive head injuries Monday when he lost control of his car and plowed into a tree in the 800 block of Elkelton Boulevard, the CHP said. Hatcher was thrown from the car and died at the scene.
Two companions riding with Hatcher escaped major injuries. Carl W. Longenecker, 32, suffered cuts and other minor injuries. He was listed in fair condition at Mercy Hospital.
Phalen Farber, 15, was treated for minor injuries at Grossmont Hospital and released.
All three had been drinking, but Hatcher’s blood alcohol level was not determined, the CHP said. No one was wearing a seat belt.
