The Montreal Expos confirmed that pitcher Floyd Youmans has entered a drug rehabilitation clinic, but the team denied the pitcher was forced to do so by Commissioner Peter Ueberroth.
Published reports said Youmans was threatened with a one-year suspension by the commissioner if he did not take part in a rehabilitation program.
Youmans, 23, finished with a 9-8 record and a 4.64 earned-run average in 116 innings the past season.
