San Marino : Classrooms to Be Reopened

Share

Ten classrooms closed last year at Huntington Junior High School are expected to meet earthquake standards and reopen by next September, Supt. Gary Richards said this week.

The classrooms were declared unusable when the San Marino Unified School District could find no records showing that the rooms meet state earthquake standards. The school is using six portable classrooms in their place.

Richards said the school, including the 10 classrooms, was undamaged by the recent earthquake. Core samples from the rooms show they are structurally sound, Richards said, and after some alterations on their ceilings they will be back in use.
