Memorial Rite Planned for 2 Burma Airways Crash Victims

A memorial service will be held Sunday for Carolyn Volk Jacques and her husband, Reeve James Jacques, two of the 49 people killed when a Burma Airways plane crashed during monsoon rains last Sunday near the Burmese city of Pagan.

Both were 45 and had lived in La Jolla at the time of their deaths but were active earlier in the Los Angeles area.

He was a trial lawyer and she a part-time teacher and active in the National Charity League, Children’s Home Society and Girl Scouts of America.

The memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Church of the Good Shepherd in Beverly Hills.

Survivors include their three daughters, her father, Harry Volk, retired chairman of Union Bank, her two brothers and his parents, James and Fern Jacques of Dallas.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking contributions to the Bishop’s School Scholarship Fund in La Jolla or the Reeve and Carolyn Jacques La Jolla Encampment Memorial Fund of the Girl Scouts of America.
