Duesler, Ahlers Gain in Tennis Tournament

WESTLAKE, Calif. — Top-seeded Bob Duesler of Newport Beach defeated Chuck Nelson of Santa Monica, 6-2, 6-4, in a third-round match Friday in the National Hardcourt 50s tennis championships.
Second-seeded Herman Ahlers of Dana Point defeated Fred Scott of Los Angeles, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, in the competition for players age 50 and older at Westlake Tennis and Swim Club.
In the 55-and-over competition, top-seeded Chuck Devoe of Indianapolis defeated Jack Simpson of Van Nuys, 6-3, 6-0. Second-seeded Sven Davidson of Arcadia, Calif., defeated Eldon Rowe of Auburn, Calif., 6-1, 6-3.
