NHL Roundup : Hull’s Two Goals Help Flames Win Third Road Game in Row

During last season’s playoffs, Brett Hull, son of hockey great Bobby Hull, indicated that he was ready to play in the National Hockey League.

In the early days of his first regular season, the 23-year-old right wing is indicating he could become a star for the Calgary Flames.

Hull scored twice at Montreal Monday night to lead the Flames to a 5-3 victory over the Canadiens, their third win in a row on the road.

Hull, who had a goal and three assists in a 7-5 win at Quebec Saturday night, broke a 3-3 tie near the middle of the third period with a quick wrist shot.

After getting only a goal in five games for the Flames last season, he contributed two goals in four playoff games.

He started slowly this season but has six points and three goals in two games.

Philadelphia 2, New York Rangers 2--The Flyers, who were only one victory short of winning the Stanley Cup last spring, patiently awaited the return of goalie Ron Hextall.

A slashing incident in the final game of the playoffs resulted in Hextall being suspended for the first eight games this season. In his absence, the Flyers gave up four goals a game and were 3-4-1.

In this game at New York, Hextall, the best goalie in the league last season, picked up where he left off, stopping 40 shots.
