Los Alamitos : Authorities Believe Fire in Car, Boats Was Arson
A 1 a.m. explosion and fire that authorities are calling arson caused $42,000 damage to a garage, a car, two trailers and half a dozen fiberglass boats in the 19100 block of Walnut Street, authorities said Wednesday.
The fire began in a station wagon owned by Thomas Nunes, a boat dealer, and spread to the nearby boats and trailers before jumping a wooden fence to engulf the garage, said Patti Range of the county Fire Department.
No one was injured in the two-alarm blaze that took 30 firefighters almost 20 minutes to control, she said.
