$200,000 in Jewels Taken in Robbery
A leather case containing 263 diamond rings and bracelets worth more than $200,000 was taken Saturday from a jewelry salesman who was accosted in a Glendale parking lot.
Leonid Radulanski, 38, a Los Angeles jewelry manufacturer and wholesaler, told police that he returned to his car at about 11 a.m. after meeting with the owner of Hopkins Ltd. jewelry store at 505 N. Brand Blvd. Police said a man who claimed to have a gun confronted Radulanski as he stood facing his open car trunk. The suspect ordered the jeweler to hand over the case, then fled.
Employees at Hopkins, which is on the ground floor of a newly opened 15-story building, said they were unable to see the robbery. There were no other witnesses, and no one was injured, police said.
