Macpherson Leads Bowling Pro-Am

LAS VEGAS, Nev. —
Wendy Macpherson of San Diego averaged 227 to take a 48-pin lead over veteran Judy Soutar of Leawood, Kan., at the end of the first round Monday in the $100,000 Ladies Pro Bowlers tour Sam’s Town National Pro-Am.
Macpherson, 19, bowled consecutive games of 279, 246, 268 and 237 to take the lead with a total of 1,820 pins. Macpherson is bidding for her third career title, having won her first championship as an amateur in the 1986 U.S. Open.
