Indians Will Open Season Against Rangers
The Cleveland Indians will open their 1988 American League season April 4 in Texas against the Rangers.
Following games April 4, 6 and 7 in Texas, the Indians will begin their home schedule Friday, April 8, when they play host to the Baltimore Orioles at 6:05 p.m.
The home opener will be the first of seven home games in seven days for the Indians. Baltimore will be the opponent for the first four games, followed by a three-game mid-week series against the World Series champion Minnesota Twins.
Cleveland’s 81-game home schedule concludes Oct. 2 against Boston.
Unlike the past two seasons, the Indians will play the final month of the season primarily against teams from within their own AL Eastern Division. Cleveland closed the past two seasons by playing against AL West clubs.
