College football fans who huddle around their televisions today to catch two of the year’s big games will find they must make a choice between the key contests.

At 12:30 p.m., ABC will cover the USC-UCLA clash at the Coliseum on (7)(3)(10)(42) while CBS carries the Nebraska-Oklahoma battle of the undefeated on (2)(8).

ABC’s game will determine whether the Trojans or Bruins go on to the Rose Bowl. At stake in the CBS showdown of top-ranked teams is the Big Eight title and a berth in the Orange Bowl.

Those who miss today’s USC-UCLA telecast can tune in a replay Sunday at 4 p.m. on Prime Ticket cable.

Two other college games of note kick off at 9 a.m. today: Notre Dame vs. Penn State on (2)(8) and Ohio State vs. Michigan on (7)(3)(10)(42).

In the midst of those televised tussles today comes NBC’s live coverage of the Breeders’ Cup horse races from Hollywood Park. With shares of a $10-million total purse on the line, the seven thoroughbred races will be shown from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on (4)(36)(39).

Viewers seeking the streaking Los Angeles Lakers can turn to Prime Ticket and SelecTV Sunday at 7:30 p.m. as the world champions play the Milwaukee Bucks at the Forum.

For fight fans, Home Box Office has the WBA lightweight title bout between Edwin Rosario and Julio Cesar Chavez tonight at 7.
