A Costa Mesa man was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving after his car drifted over the center divider on Coast Highway, allegedly sideswiping another car and injuring two people and himself, authorities said Sunday.

Antonio Medina, 19, was treated for moderate injuries at Mission Community Hospital in Mission Viejo after the Saturday night accident. He was then booked into the Orange County Jail, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.

A passenger in Medina’s car, identified as Augustine Sotelo, 18, of Costa Mesa, was listed in satisfactory condition at the same hospital Sunday. The driver of the second car, John Joanning, 20, of Corona del Mar, also was listed in satisfactory condition at Mission Community, a hospital spokeswoman said.

According to the CHP, Medina was northbound on Coast Highway at 7:30 p.m., about two miles north of Laguna Beach, when he drifted over the center line and sideswiped Joanning’s southbound car. Joanning’s car then struck a southbound pickup. That driver was not injured, the CHP said.
