Al Iafrate scored with 1:40 remaining Tuesday night, lifting the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 4-3 victory over the New York Islanders.

The Leafs, who blew a 3-1 lead earlier in the third period, moved into a tie with Chicago atop the Smythe Division and boosted their record over .500, 10-9-2. They snapped a four-game winless streak by winning at Nassau Coliseum for the first time since Feb. 17, 1981.

The loss was just third in the last 11 games for the Islanders.

Iafrate’s winning shot from the right side deflected off Islander defenseman Ken Morrow and behind goalie Billy Smith.
