39 Ventura Students Enter National Merit Scholarship Semifinals

Thirty-nine Ventura County high school seniors have been selected as semifinalists in the competition for 6,000 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $23 million, the National Merit Scholarship Corp. has announced.
They are among the 15,000 semifinalists who achieved outstanding scores on tests administered in 19,000 secondary schools across the U.S. More than 1 million students took the tests.
The educational group also announced that Anthony K. Hall, a senior at Hueneme High School, is one of 1,500 semifinalists in the National Achievement Scholarship Program for Outstanding Negro Students. The program awards 700 scholarships worth more than $2 million.
