Westwood : Grant OKd for Veloway Study

Share

The Los Angeles County Transportation Commission has awarded $15,000 for the completion of an environmental impact report on the West L. A. Veloway, a proposed two-mile-long elevated bicycle path connecting UCLA with West Los Angeles.

The grant supplements $65,000 given to the project four years ago by the commission for the first part of the report.

Completion of the environmental impact report, expected in January, opens the door for soliciting funds to pay for the bike path, which is expected to cost between $7 million and $10 million, said Ryan Snyder, executive director of Citizens for the West L. A. Veloway. If the bikeway is approved and enough funds are raised, the project could be completed by 1990, he said.
