- December has been declared “Artists Opportunity Month” by the Public Arts Advisory Council, which has scheduled several presentations to inform artists of various job possibilities. On Friday from 2-5 p.m., members of the advisory council, artists and representatives of local architectural firms will discuss art commissions currently available, and offer suggestions for compiling successful proposals (SDG&E; Bldg., 101 Ash St., Auditorium 3).

On Tuesday, at 7 p.m., Eileen Sondak, dance critic for the Los Angeles Times San Diego County Edition, and Marilyn Boesky, owner of a public relations agency, will present “Dance and the Media, or How to Press Your Pointe.” The workshop, to be held at Sushi (852 8th Ave.), is designed to enhance dancers’ skills at self-promotion.

A representative from the California Arts Council will be on hand from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Carlsbad City Council Chambers (1200 Elm Ave.) to provide information about the Arts Council’s artists-in-residence program.
