CS Long Beach Plays Arizona at Tucson
Cal State Long Beach will play Arizona, one of the nation’s hottest college basketball teams, in a nonconference game tonight.
Arizona is 3-0 after beating Duquesne, Michigan and Syracuse in the Great Alaska Shootout. Forward Sean Elliott, the tournament’s most valuable player, leads the Wildcats in scoring with an average of 18.7 points a game.
“We’re just getting started, and they’ve played three tough opponents,” Long Beach Coach Joe Harrington said. “They’re a lot bigger than we are and their offense looks like a great unit.”
The 49ers beat Cal Poly Pomona, 94-70, in their opener last Friday.
