Lichti Leads Stanford to 90-78 Victory Over Brown for Tournament Championship

Todd Lichti scored 19 points and was named the most valuable player as Stanford defeated Brown, 90-78, in the championship game of the Apple Invitational tournament.

Lichti scored 13 points in the first half and played briefly in the second half after Stanford broke the game open.

Stanford (4-2) led, 39-35, at the intermission and outscored Brown, 19-2, in the first seven minutes of the second half to take a 58-37 lead. Greg Butler had eight points in the spree and Lichti four.

Brown (1-2) rallied in the final minutes on the outside shooting of Bill Coffeym, who hit two three-point shots and scored all 14 of his points in the second half.

In the consolation game, Courtney Jeans and Jose Nassar combined for 45 points to lead Texas to a 78-73 victory over William and Mary. Jeans 23, Nassar 22.
