POP/ROCK - Dec. 9, 1987
English rock performers Sting and Peter Gabriel, African singer Youssou N’dour and others are scheduled to hold a press conference today in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to announce a concert tour in support of the human rights organization Amnesty International. The six-week tour, which will also include Bryan Adams and other acts to be named, will take place in late summer of 1988. In contrast to last year’s star-studded Amnesty Tour of U.S. cities, organizers intend this time to play on every continent--and in some countries guilty of human-rights violations.
