Making good on her Thanksgiving announcement to husband Sean Penn, Madonna has officially filed a divorce petition in Superior Court in Santa Monica, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason to end their 28-month marriage. In the court filing, Madonna asked that her maiden name of Madonna Ciccone be restored and declared that the couple’s assets and property had been disposed of in a marital agreement. The terms of the agreement were not revealed. Penn, 27, and Madonna, 29, were married in a lavish sunset ceremony on cliffs of Malibu on Aug. 16, 1985.
