A Friday night fire that destroyed an unfinished condominium complex in North Park was the work of an arsonist, the Metro Arson Strike Team reported Saturday.

There are no suspects in the blaze, which caused $2 million damage to a three-story, 30-unit complex in the 2700 block of Howard Ave., fire officials said.

The fire was the third at the complex in the last 16 months, according to Larry Stewart, a spokesman for the San Diego Fire Department.

The three-alarm fire broke out shortly after 9:30 p.m.

Eighty firefighters worked to contain the blaze and keep it from spreading to adjacent buildings. It was brought under control about 10 p.m., Stewart said.
