The State : 4.0 Quake Hits Bakersfield

An earthquake estimated at 4.0 to 4.2 on the Richter scale struck the Bakersfield area, but there were no reports of injuries or damage. Law enforcement agencies received numerous telephone calls from area residents who felt the quake. “It just felt like it was rumbling like it was going to be the big one,” police employee Chris McGlasson said. “It was so quick I didn’t have time to get under my desk.”
