A third co-defendant of convicted murderer Laura Troiani pleaded guilty Thursday to helping her kill her husband, Marine Staff Sgt. Carlo Troiani, in 1984.

Jeffrey Thomas Mizner, 24, pleaded guilty in Vista Superior Court to first-degree murder, in exchange for prosecutors dropping allegations that the murder was done by ambush and for profit, allegations that could have lead to the death penalty.

Mizner is expected to be sentenced to 25 years to life in prison on Jan. 28. Defense attorney Wayne Gomez said Mizner will be eligible for parole in 15 years.

Troiani was convicted of first-degree murder after a lengthy trial and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. All five of her co-defendants were Marines stationed at Camp Pendleton and have since been discharged.
