CS Fullerton May Have Trouble Inside With Utah Tonight

Share

Cal State Fullerton’s basketball team, at 1-3 off to its worst start since the 1984-85 season, will play Utah at 7:35 tonight in a non-conference game at Titan Gym.

The Titans’ problems seem to come from inside, where the starting front line for tonight’s game--Van Anderson, Bobby Adair and Vincent Blow--is averaging 15 points a game.

Utah forwards Watkins Singletary and Mitch Smith are averaging 18 and 16.2 points, respectively.

Contributing to Fullerton’s problems inside has been the absence of small forward Henry Turner who averaged 15.2 points a game last season. Turner, a 6-7 senior, strained ligaments in his right foot in Fullerton’s second game.

Utah, 5-1 and coming off wins over Providence and Princeton, has a guard, Gale Gondrezick, the fourth Gondrezick brother to play major college basketball. Glen played at Nevada Las Vegas, George at Colorado State and Grant at Pepperdine. Gale, 6-4, is averaging 12.7 points.
