Tom Hayes scored the first goal of his Major Indoor Soccer League career 3:42 into sudden-death overtime to give the Los Angeles Lazers a 6-5 victory over the Baltimore Blast Saturday night.

Hayes took a pass from Chris Chueven and slid a 20-foot shot past Blast defender Bruce Savage and goalkeeper Keith Van Eron to score his first career point and end the game. The Blast is 8-6.

The Lazers (7-6) tied the game with three minutes left in regulation when referee Gino Dippolito awarded the Lazers a shootout after Van Eron was whistled for an intentional hand ball.

Van Eron made the initial stop on a shot by Michael Collins, but Collins drove right around the sliding goalkeeper and tucked the shot inside the upright from 25 feet.

Earlier, the Lazers were awarded a shootout and Chico Vorja converted the opportunity.
