Lazers Beat Steamers for Third Win in Row

Forward Chico Borja scored power-play goals in the second and third periods to lead the Lazers past the St. Louis Steamers, 2-1, Saturday night in St. Louis.

The victory was the third straight for the Lazers (7-7), who are back home to play the Dallas Sidekicks tonight at 6 at the Forum.

Borja scored his second goal with a 40-foot shot past St. Louis goalkeeper Pat Baker late in the second period to give the Lazers a 2-0 lead.

Jerry Gray put the Steamers within one goal at 6:11 of the final period but were unable to get the tying goal past Lazer goalkeeper David Brcic, who finished with 19 saves.

The Steamers, losers of six of their last eight games, fell to 6-9.
