A Saturday night birthday party in Huntington Beach ended in a fight that sent three teen-agers to the hospital, police said.

The party was being held in the city-owned Murdy Park Recreation Center when a fistfight between two groups of youths began outside at 11:30 p.m., Police Sgt. Gary Meza said.

Police stopped two cars leaving the area, Meza said, and found three stabbing victims in them.

One of the victims, a 17-year-old, was in serious condition Sunday at UCI Medical Center, Meza said. Another, 16, was in stable condition at the same hospital. The third victim, also 17, was in good condition at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital.

Meza said witnesses reported hearing gunshots, but police knew of no gunshot victims.

Three adults and three youths were arrested in connection with the fight, but police have not released their names. Police said they believe the fight was gang-related.
