Local News in Brief : Woman Died of Blow to Head
A coroner’s autopsy concluded Thursday that a 70-year-old Redondo Beach woman died as a result of blunt-force trauma to the head.
Police said Irene Margarite Ellsworth died Tuesday night after a fight with her daughter, Karen, who is being held on suspicion of murder.
Neighbors saw the women fighting in front of the home they shared on North Maria Avenue. Karen Ellsworth, 45, telephoned for emergency assistance at 8:33 p.m. Her mother died 45 minutes later at South Bay Hospital.
Karen Ellsworth was arrested and was being held without bail at the Police Department lockup, pending her arraignment on Monday in South Bay Municipal Court.
