Television. It’s been around for 60 years. It entertains and informs. It’s praised and condemned. It’s become a global industry.
And now, public television will look at the history, development and effects of this powerful medium in an eight-part series titled simply “Television,” starting Monday at 8 p.m. on Channels 28, 58 and 15, 9 p.m. on Channel 50 and 10 p.m. on Channel 24.
With Edwin Newman hosting, the eight weekly chapters will focus on such themes as comedy, drama, live TV coverage and news. The segments include vintage footage and new interviews with prominent TV figures.
“Television” is a co-production of WNET/New York and KCET/Los Angeles, in association with Granada Television of England.
