Williams Stops Rodney Frazier in First
Carl (the Truth) Williams stopped Rodney Frazier at 2:56 of the first round to defend his U.S. Boxing Assn. heavyweight title Wednesday night.
Williams, 225, started the final barrage with a solid overhand right and backed Frazier into a corner with a series of combinations before referee Pat Russell stopped the fight.
Williams, of Patterson, N.J., improved to 20-2.
Frazier, 212, of Philadelphia, fell to 16-4. Frazier’s uncle, former heavyweight champion Joe Frazier, had trained him for the fight.
